The Giver of Faith

Life is not about me. It is not about what I’m going through, my circumstances each day or each hour. It is not about how I respond to those circumstances.

Life is about God. About my Creator, the One who sustains me with every breath I take. The One who lives eternally, and with whom I will someday live face to face.

“For by him all things were created,
in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—
all things were created through him and for him.”

(Colossians 1:16)

And life takes faith. It takes courage. But life is not about that faith or courage. It is not about “how much” faith I have or “how strong” I am.

It is about the One in whom my faith is placed. It is about the Giver of courage, not the courage itself. For it is not faith itself that gets me through each day, but rather the Object of my faith. It is not courage itself that gives me strength, but the Giver of that courage.

“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
And he is the head of the body, the church.
He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead,
that in everything he might be preeminent.”

(Colossians 1:17-18)

Just as I cannot live focused on my circumstances, neither can I live focused on my faith. I must be solely and wholly focused on Jesus Christ, my Savior. I must be focused on my heavenly Father. I must be focused on that blessed Trinity, who saves and sanctifies and sustains me.

Because life is not about me.

For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be glory forever. Amen.”

(Romans 11:36)

  1. Stopping by from the blog bash and wanted to say hello.

  2. Amen! I am in need of reminding myself of these very things!
