Review: 31 Day Twitter Tip Challenge

31 Days of Twitter Tips is hands-down the best guidebook for learning Twitter. Or for improving your Twitter experience, learning how to build relationships through your tweets, or finding more time-efficient ways to keep up with the Twitter world.

Covers no text 1

In this newly-released book, Becky Robinson shares 31 tips for getting more out of Twitter. And each of these tips can be completed (or at least started) in just 12 minutes a day. Which makes it incredibly doable, and well worth it.

How did it help me? Well, I had already been using Twitter for six months when I found Becky’s website, 12 Minute Media. But I was hooked as soon as I saw her tips on there. She shares things like what to tweet, and how to build relationships in just 140 characters. Yes, I was already tweeting regularly… but I was stuck at less than 50 followers and hardly any interaction. Then she announced her new ebook, and I downloaded it as soon as I could.

And now? I have real conversations over Twitter. I get replies and mentions almost every day. I have new friends who actually respond to my tweets. Friends I would love to meet in real life, if I ever get the opportunity (@CGKoens!). And while it’s not all about the numbers, my followers have more than doubled since I started following Becky’s tips.

So what were some of my favorite suggestions from 31 Days of Twitter Tips?

  • Tip #4, Installing a 3rd party application. This is a must for anyone with more than a few dozen followers. It’s been a tremendous help in making my twitter-time more efficient and fruitful. (And if you want my recommendation, I use HootSuite.)
  • Tip #5, Creating Twitter lists. Yes, this! It goes right along with the previous tip. Because you can sort your tweets by lists, and focus on what you have time for at the moment. And it keeps it all organized, which I love.
  • Tips #17, 18, 20. These are all about how to engage with other tweeters. What to share, how to be personal, and how to build connections. For me, that’s what Twitter is all about.

Does that whet your appetite?  There’s 26 other tips in there that are just as great. And there’s also appendices about getting started on Twitter, using more than one account, adding people to lists, and a 3 page glossary of terms and abbreviations.

And I’ve saved the best part for last…

31 Days of Twitter Tips is free right now through August 31! So go grab it and join in the fun!

  4. I’ve avoided twitter, but have recently been convicted that I need to start. I downloaded the book a week or so ago and haven’t gotten around to reading it (denial!). I saw it mentioned on another site. I guess now I really DO need to read it.
