I believe that we must read with discernment. But I don’t believe that Christians are limited to reading only books written about Christianity. I personally enjoy everything from theology and devotional studies, to classic mysteries and suspense, to travel-related memoirs, to biographical and historical fiction. I tend not to recommend much general fiction, simply because everyone’s tastes are so different. But anything that can help us grow as Christians, or expand our minds as mature adults, I’m happy to share.
Please keep in mind that a recommendation does not equal a wholehearted endorsement of everything that an author says. That being said –
Here are some favorite books that I think you might love.

Have you read any of the books recommended by (in)courage or ever done the book club?
This can be something a bit lighter than what you have been reading but it is a very fun way to hook up with on-line friends.
Beth, thanks for visiting! I actually just discovered (in)courage this past fall and am still finding out all they offer there. So far I have not joined in a book club, but it is something to keep in mind! I’m sure the ensuing friendship would be worth it. Thanks for mentioning it
This is great! I love the idea of including a “book shelf” in a blog! I might just have to swipe this idea from you!
This is a very long and rich list! I have read Andrew Murray’s and it was a huge blessing. Thanks for sharing, it have given me some ideas!
Have a super blessed weekend!
