The Art of Sending Cards – and a Giveaway!

>>> Winner of $20 DaySpring voucher: Claire Beam
>>> Winner of 4-pack of cards: Emily Washer

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
Proverbs 12:25

Some of you know that I create my own greeting cards. I love designing birthday wishes, get well prayers, thinking of you notes, and thank you’s for my friends and family. I love making it personal to them, tailored to their personalities, age, and stage of life. I usually hand-craft all my cards, but I still keep an eye out for unique commercially made cards. And Peanuts cards, well, those are definitely unique!

So when DaySpring announced (via (in)courage) announced their January theme of “Encourage One Another” and offered a chance to review some of their encouragement & thank you cards (including a Peanuts selection!), I jumped at it. And in return, I get to offer YOU a few giveaways (read on to find out more)!

To me, the most important part of a greeting card is a unique and thoughtfully-worded message. And these cards fit both requirements. One of my favorites is this one:

It’s hard to imagine a world without ice cream…

…or good friends like you.

Some of the other messages include:

  • Faith is… Holding on tight when the going gets windy.
  • The storms of life are no match for good friends.
  • We’ve definitely got what it take to enjoy life – each other!
  • Just wanted to brighten your day – you’ve brightened so many of mine!

Along with the characteristic smile-producing goofiness of Snoopy and the other Peanuts characters, each card also includes a fitting Scripture verse, the most encouraging words of all!

So who am I sending my first Peanuts encouragement card to? I think… my secret sister! She is a sweet woman who always has a smile and word of encouragement for everyone else… why not return the favor, and offer a prayer of blessing on her behalf, written in a card for her to enjoy? What else could I write in there? Perhaps a memory, a certain time she spoke just the right words that I needed to hear. Or maybe a song of praise from Scripture, offering a reminder of how great our God is. Or a hope and wish for her personal happiness, a sincere note of concern for her well-being.

DaySpring also sent me these great thank you cards:

Sometimes I struggle to find the perfect words…

…Thank You! (Yeah, that works just fine.)

And I would love to share these with YOU!! Yes, YOU, my faithful and wonderful readers. I’m so excited to offer my first giveaway, and give you not just one but TWO exciting opportunities to win! 1. I would spend the $$ buying inspirational daily calendars to give to friends. 🙂

  2. I would send encouraging cards to my Childrens teachers thanking them and spurring them on in the great job they are doing.

  3. I love journals–writing down my heart, the things the Lord is teaching me, sermon notes, etc. When it comes to cards I would write it to a friend going through a hard time to brighten their day, a close friend, or just to bring a bit of sunshine into someones days, or “just because” I care.
and I shared this on facebook too. 😉

  4. I LOVE Dayspring, not only for their cards but their home decor, and right now I’m loving this: Bless This Home – Tiered Server!!

  5. I’d send a card to my mom to let her know she inspires me:)

  6. I’d send a card to my sis-in-law who has to move across the country with her two little boys for her husbands job.

  7. I would love to spend the $20 buying more cards. I am always running out of cards to give to others with a little note inside to brighten their day.

  8. I would spend the money on cards to encourage a couple of ladies who are going through cancer treatments right now as well as some who are struggling and need encouragement to trust the Lord. 🙂

  9. Really talented. I truly like them.

  10. I have a lot of people to thank as I recover from back surgery.

  11. Receiving an e-mail or a facebook message or a text message can be an encouragement, but there is still something very special about getting old fashioned snail mail! In this technological age, I don’t send as many cards as I used to, but am trying to get back to it. A $20 voucher from Dayspring would be used for encouragement and birthday cards for my church family, many who are struggling at this time. I used to work at a Christian bookstore and am very familiar with Dayspring. Their cards are wonderful! Thank you, too, for your encouraging blog, Elizabeth! (sharing giveaway on facebook)
