Happy August! and other news.

This week I’ve got some great posts to share, a new ebook that’s free until August 31, and a new thankfulness feature! So let’s get started!

What Is Theology? – New Life Steward

I just discovered this blog a few days ago, and was thrilled to find a series on practical theology! Mary Beth is working through Grudem’s Systematic Theology (one of the best, in my opinion), and offering practical application of each major doctrinal point. She’s now on week 7, and discussing the clarity of Scripture.

And if the words “theology” and “doctrine” scare you – don’t let them. They simply refer to knowing God, and knowing what you believe about Him.

Weeping Well – Barefoot Hippie Girl

This post offers a refreshing look at Psalm 84:5-7. The point that spoke to me the most was this: “We can make this valley of weeping just tears, or pour it into a well of experience that others can draw from.” Personally, I face many days of “weeping” (struggling, whatever) as I deal with chronic illness. But this made me think… perhaps God is allowing me to suffer so that others might benefit from it, from my “well of weeping.”

Why I Keep Clutter – My Home Tableau

Johanna couldn’t have had better timing – since right now we’re in the middle of a whole-house purge! We’ve been in our current place for 4 years, and have accumulated so much… not to mention all the old stuff that’s simply taking up space. This article gives some great guidelines for evaluating what’s truly worth keeping – and what would be better off in someone else’s house!

31 Days of Twitter Tips – a free ebook by Becky Robinson from Weaving Influence

 Covers no text 1

If you’re new to Twitter, or if you aren’t sure you’re “doing it” right, or if you just want to get more out of it – you need this book! It offers 31 tips that each be completed in only 12 minutes per day (hence the website’s name, 12 Minute Media). And the best part? It’s free right now, through August 31!

I’m personally still working my way through it – expect a review when I finish – but have already put quite a few tips to work. Things like, using a third-party site (like HootSuite) to increase productivity. And putting your followers into lists. And here’s a big one: what exactly you should be tweeting about anyway.

So go download it! Surely you have 12 minutes to spare – and in fact, when you put these tips into practice, you’ll start getting a whole lot more accomplished in those 12 minutes than you ever thought possible!

Weekly Thankfulness List

I saw this idea over at Carrie’s Busy Nothings, where she shares 10 things that she’s thankful for each week. And I thought, I should do that! And I’d love if you would share a comment with some things that YOU’RE thankful for, too!

  1. Coffee
  2. Sleep medications
  3. Great doctor/patient relationships
  4. The power of prayer
  5. Wisdom just when we need it
  6. New online friends
  7. Finding great new blogs
  8. Lazy days home with my husband
  9. Summer produce
  10. Free books!

Now it’s YOUR turn! Share a favorite post from the past week, a book you’ve been reading, or some things you’re thankful for! I’d love to hear from you!
