Wherever you are, be all there. (News Edition)

“Wherever you are, be all there.
Live to the hilt

every situation you believe
to be the will of God.”

Jim Elliot

Next week my husband and I will be enjoying a crazy fun family get-together! It’s his side of the family, the ones who got me enjoying the Muppets. 🙂

Anyway, I’ll be unplugging for most of the way, so I can be “all there” and truly enjoy our time together. I’ve got some posts scheduled, and will probably jump on once a day to check email, but if you don’t hear from me… that’s why!

And now, some giveaways and highlights from the past week:

Book Giveaway from Jana’s 3 Dresses

You may have heard about Jen Hatmaker’s book, “7: an Experimental Mutiny against Excess.” A lot of people have been reading it this summer. And the (in)courage book club will be going through it soon. And Jana has 2 free copies to give away! So go leave a comment – and hurry, she’s picking the winners on Monday!

Free Watercolor Prints from Joy-Filled Days

My friend Sarah paints beautiful watercolors. And she’s offering two of them free on her blog! You can also see some of her other paintings at her etsy shop.

Offering Help that is Actually Helpful by My Home Tableau

We’ve all had people tell us, “let me know if you need anything.” And chances are, few of us have ever let those people know. Because it’s so vague. And we aren’t sure what kind of help they can offer. {Not to mention we’re often too proud to ask for help.} But Johanna shares a thought-provoking post with 4 ways to offer specific help to those in need.

Escaping Black Hole Syndrome by Firstfire

Thoughts on Ann Voskamp’s One Thousand Gifts. And this thought-provoking conclusion: “We had Communion last Sunday—the Eucharist—and I thought about eucharisteo. Christ giving thanks for the food that represented a death almost unspeakable. Could any thanks have been harder than His?”

Also, did you catch my interview at Poetic Bloomings yesterday? Go ahead and check it out… and look around the site a bit, too. It’s a wonderful community of poets who are encouraging and supportive of everyone who participates!

Things I’m thankful for this week:

  • Affordable dental care
  • Apples, apple cider, apple tea, applesauce
  • August back-to-school sales
  • Annual family get-togethers
  • Accidental alliteration 😉
  • Fresh mozzarella & havarti cheeses
  • Fresh zucchini and tomatoes
  • Friends who make me laugh (Catherine!)
  • Fitting into clothes that used to be too small
  • Friendly mail (not bills or junk)

Also, have you liked our Facebook page yet? You can find more great links from around the web, encouragement and inspiration from Scripture and other good quotes, and this week – a fun little video about the history of LEGO!

Question: What are YOU thankful for today?

    1. You’re very welcome!!

  8. I am thankful for many things today, however, one thing that stood out today as I pondered this question is: Time, time to enjoy what I do have and relationships to share it with. Thanks for asking, Elizabeth!

    1. Time is a wonderful thing, and we all ought to be more grateful for the time we do have, no matter how busy we find ourselves. Thanks Philip!
