Encouragement and Thankfulness

My energy is low today. In fact, it has been for a few weeks. I’m grateful that God led me to plan the guest post series for this month — it’s been hard to push past the brain fog and write something coherent. Not to mention, I’ve really enjoyed reading each contribution, and appreciate your response to them! There’s only a few more to go, and I hope you’ll continue to be blessed and encouraged by them.

Encouraging Reads for the Weekend:

–> Life does not have to be good to be joyful – Joy-Filled Days
Don’t confuse happiness with joy. Happiness is dependant on circumstances — good health, a clean kitchen, a full bank account — and can easily change. Joy, however, is dependant on an unchanging Savior. It depends on being filled with His Spirit. And you can have joy even with a broken body, a dirty kitchen, or an empty bank account.

–> Not Shaken – Choosing Joy Daily
This post dovetails with the last: no matter how broken you may feel, you can still find joy and hope in clinging to God’s amazing promises. You can stand unshaken amidst life’s trials and disappointments. So… how are you choosing joy today?

–> The God Who Sees Me – RachelWojo.com
Do you ever feel utterly alone in your circumstances, like no one sees or truly understands what you’re going through? Stacy, from Finding Purpose in the Pain, shares a guest post on Rachel’s blog about El Roi, the God who sees.

–> Adoption: It’s about the Father – Do Not Depart
As children of God, we no longer own a spirit of fear. But what if we still struggle with fearful insecurities? Take a closer look at the great Father who has adopted you; I daresay it will quiet many of those insecurities.

Ten Reasons to be Thankful:

  • October blue skies
  • pumpkin gingerbread
  • pumpkin hot chocolate
  • the effectiveness of intercession
  • unexpected pocket money
  • the ability to hope
  • the ability to choose joy
  • heating pads
  • love letters from my husband
  • friends who point my thoughts towards God

What are YOU thankful for today?
