Links to Read and Savor

I missed out on my usual writing time this past weekend. Life happened to include a few unforeseen problems that needed immediate attention, and so our normal routines went out the window! But I’ve been saving a few articles that I found thought-provoking and share-worthy, and so I’m sharing those instead of writing something for myself. 🙂

Take your time with these posts. They’re worth praying over and savoring, I promise!

Recordings from Revive ’13
If you were unable to attend this year’s Revive conference with Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Elyse Fitzpatrick, and Paul David Tripp, you can still listen to their sessions anyway. Many of them are available for free download right here. I am slowly working my way through them… all very powerful, relevant, and sound counsel from the Word of God!

Not Just the Bad Things
Tim Challies offers a deeper perspective on Romans 8:28, that verse we love to quote in times of trouble. But he reminds us that it’s not just for bad times! It’s for the good, and even the mundane times, too. “It may be that the hardest thing for us to believe is that these days—these oh-so-normal days filled with nothing of great significance—are also working for our good.”

When God Takes Away a Good Thing
Speaking of bad things, Sarah shares some thoughts on how we respond to losing out on good things: “Kids don’t take kindly to loss, and in reality, neither do we.” Whether it’s a sudden, harsh loss or a gradual shifting away from something we believe to be good (a lifestyle, job, or relationship), God is working through that loss. And how we respond to all of that makes a huge difference!

Remembering the Hymns
October is the month for “31-day” series in the blogosphere, and there are many blogs participating this year. One of my favorites is this series from Lyrical Grace, remembering some of the older hymns in our hymnbooks. This one is a favorite of mine (one of many!), and one that is sure to be an encouragement to you.

Women Living Well Book Study
Remember my review of Women Living Well? Mandy will be leading a community book study of Women Living Well from Oct.16 – Dec.11, and I’m excited about discussing applications and perspectives with other Christian women. Why don’t you join in, too?

What have you read lately that’s worth sharing? A book, a blog post, an infographic… share it in the comments!

P.S. Congratulations to Heather, winner of the WLW giveaway!
