Loveworthy Links for Valentine's Day

Send God a Valentine.

Have you ever thought about sending God a valentine? After all, He is truly THE greatest Lover to ever exist! He sacrificed Himself for you, while you were His enemy. So take a few moments today to send God a valentine… because He loved you first.

Learn More of God’s Word.

Memorizing Scripture can be a real challenge for some of us, but it is a crucial element of glorifying God as His child! We should be reading, studying, meditating on, and memorizing it on a regular basis. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, it requires discipline. But hiding God’s Word in our hearts “leads us to know the Lord more, to understand Biblical doctrine better and to help us fight temptation so we will not sin against God” (Kim P). If that’s not love for God, and His Word, then what is?

Pray for Your Family.

Here’s a Valentine’s Day challenge that everyone can participate in — because everyone has someone they consider family! And whoever your family is, they need your prayers… so give your loved ones the best Valentine’s gift ever by praying for them! Because prayer equals love. Right?

Go on a {Cheap, Creative} Date.

Need a last-minute date idea for tonight, or for sometime this weekend? And need something that works for you and your wallet? Then you’re in luck! Because here’s a list of 15 ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day on a budget (Sarah Fontenot), and here’s another list of 10 cheap date night ideas for parents of small kids (Leigh Ann Dutton). Note: don’t be thrown off by the “small kids” part of that article. We don’t have any kids at all, but there are some great ideas that we will certainly be trying! Like the bookstore date…

Really Love Your Spouse.

{Especially for Wives} Make a fresh commitment to apply the Gospel in your marriage — and stop tearing down your husband (Sarah Beals). Don’t think you’re doing that? You might reconsider that after reading this list! But the good news is, you can change any of these things — by letting the Gospel that saved you be the Gospel that changes you.

Make Chocolate Cake.

Because who doesn’t like dessert… on Valentine’s Day or any other day of the year? Try out this flourless chocolate cake recipe (Anne Bogel) if you’re brave enough. Bonus: it’s easily adaptable for those with food allergies or sensitivities.

Who are YOU celebrating this Valentine’s Day?

  1. I’m celebrating God, who so clearly shows me His love every day, but especially yesterday when He made it possible for my good friend to run a 5k with me this morning. Appropriately, my before-bed Psalm was #34, which says how blessed we Christians are, and I sure felt blessed and beyond blessed last night!

Happy Valentine’s Day to one of my favorite bloggers! (You.)

    1. Happy Valentine’s Day to YOU! Love that God gave you Psalm 34 to meditate on yesterday. How did your 5K go?

  2. Thanks for the link love, and happy Valentine’s Day!

  3. These are all great ideas Elizabeth and I especially liked Sarah’s post about wives and husbands. And thanks for also including my blog post 🙂 My kids and I celebrated by writing love notes to our Compassion sponsored kids 🙂 Have a great weekend!

    1. That’s a great way to celebrate! 🙂
