One of my earliest memories is of the day I was forever adopted into God’s family.
I was three years old, and my mom and I had just left a midweek Bible study at someone’s home. While the adults met in one room, the other kids and I enjoyed some play time, snacks, and a brief Bible lesson. I don’t remember who taught us, but I’ll be forever grateful for their willingness to serve!
As we left that day, I was overcome with curiosity about the process of salvation.I remember sitting in the front seat of the car (that was before airbags and mandatory back-seat riding for children), and asking my mom how it worked—how a person could “get saved.” She talked me through acknowledging my inherent sinfulness, and asking Jesus to forgive me, and trusting in Him for eternal life. Once we got home, we sat at the kitchen table and she led me in praying about those things.
Now you might be thinking . . . what a short testimony. There was no miraculous conversion from a life of wickedness, no unexpected call of one from a family full of unbelievers, no long and hard-fought battle to win me for Christ. And you’d be right: I was saved early and (somewhat) easily.
But my story doesn’t stop there . . .
The next decade was spent “coasting” through Christian school, living each day as it came with no desire to mature in Christ or seek to please Him with my life. But despite my rebellion and faithlessness, God was merciful toward me!

The same God who led Israel through the wilderness is still our faithful guide today. The same God who protected Daniel in the lions’ den and delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the burning fiery furnace is still our faithful sustainer.
The same God who raised the dead to life, healed the blind, and caused the lame to walk again . . . that same God is my God, and His goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life!
What has God done for you??
