Somebody you know needs to hear that they are loved today.
Maybe you need to hear that, too.
Not just loved by another person — though that’s always nice to hear! — but loved by an infinite, unchanging God. Loved not for who you know… what you do… how much you know… but simply because He chooses to love you.
You were made by His skill, intimately and lovingly fashioned by His own hand. You bear His likeness, the same way a child reflects the image their birth parents. You have His nature. You have capacity for many of His character qualities — you are intelligent, relational, moral, spiritual. You can lead, create, steward, and learn. You are special! Not because of who you are, but because of whose you are.
You are loved, not because of you . . . who change and falter and sin and grow. You are loved because the One who made you never changes. He loved you from before the foundations of the world, when He planned your existence and ordained you to live in a particular time and place.
But more than that — you are doubly His. He made you, and then He died to redeem you and reconcile you back to Himself! For God so loved the world — the selfish, rebellious, Veruca Salt world (aka, I-want-it-my-way-and-I-want-it-now) — that He . . .
Which cannot sin, and yet all sins must bear,
Which cannot die, yet cannot choose but die, ¹
. . . gave His own self to die for us, that we might live for Him.
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. — 1 John 4:9-10 ESV
You are loved by an everlasting, never-changing God . . . infinitely more than you could ever imagine!
The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell…
Oh, love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure—the saints’ and angels’ song.²
Even so we are all loved.
Man or woman. Young or old. Sick or healthy. Introvert or extrovert. Wealthy or homeless. Married or single. CEO or college student. Mom or Dad. Son or daughter.
You are so loved!
